You don’t see that everyday, as helicopter lands at Fargo South High School
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – You don’t see that everyday, a military helicopter landed out at Fargo South High School. The Huey helicopter came from the Minot Air Force Base to give students in the area an inside look to the chopper.
This is all part of the Aviation Inspiration Mentorship Program called ‘Pet the Jet’. According to Col. Steven Muhs with the Fargo Air Force JROTC, this is a great opportunity for the kids to see a helicopter up close.
And get them interested in joining the military, because recruiting has been on the decline as of late.
“The job market is hot right now. Anytime the job market is really hot and unemployment is really low, the military is not a primary job source for people. That’s the main reason,” said Col. Muhs. “My experience of over my 27 years in the Air Force was, when the job market was hot recruiting was tough. When the job market isn’t hot, then a lot more folks are looking for the military for a potential career.”
The helicopter is currently heading to North Carolina.
