Driver Arrested After Vehicle Catches Fire
A vehicle was destroyed in a fire on Highway 127, three miles south of Wahpeton Tuesday shortly after 6:30 p.m. The caller reported the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames

RICHLAND COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR-KFGO) – A vehicle was destroyed in a fire on Highway 127, three miles south of Wahpeton Tuesday shortly after 6:30 p.m. The caller reported the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.
First responders found the occupants were out of the vehicle and safe. The fire appears to have started in the engine compartment and was most likely caused by a mechanical or electric ignition source
The 41-year-old driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant and attempted to flee from the scene on foot and was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
The Dwight Volunteer Fire Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, and Wahpeton Police Department responded.
