Helping out young girls and teens with self-esteem and mental health

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Self-esteem tends to be an issue for anyone, but especially in young girls. Since 2013 BIO Girls, which stands for beautiful inside and out, has been helping girls across the Midwest with their programs.

This year, they are adding a new program that will help out teenagers. As the BIO Girls look to help with their preventative approach to mental health issues. According to the North Dakota Youth Risk Behavior Survey, one in eight North Dakota girls have attempted suicide.

“Is to improve the self-esteem of adolescent girls through empowerment of self and service to others,” said Macy Kraemer, the marketing director at BIO Girls. “That self-esteem is actually the strongest predictor of emotional and behavioral issues. Our programs are proven preventatives. So not only are we helping these girls, we could be preventing what could be coming down the road.”

BIO Girls is now preparing for their 5-K in May and their summer camp programs.
