St. Patrick’s Parade Marches on Despite Cold Weather

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Fargo-Moorhead area residents turned out to collect candy and hear the bagpipes at this year’s St. Patrick’s Parade on Saturday, despite the wind and cold temperatures.

The parade was lead by an honor guard and Mayor Tim Mahoney, marching down Northern Plains Ave. before turning and heading up Broadway. It featured members of the Fargo Police and Fire Departments, as well as many local businesses and community groups excited to kick off the spring season.

Despite temperatures only reaching the upper 30’s and fierce winds, many residents still turned out to enjoy the parade.

“It was really surprising. It’s been really nice all week,” Mateo, a West Fargo resident who brought his son Elias to his first parade said. “We just bundled him up, and it hasn’t been too bad.”

There was also an increased security presence, similar to the Holiday Lights Parade in December, to ensure the safety of the participants and attendees.
