Sheyenne’s Tommy Ahneman named 2023-24 Gatorade North Dakota Boys Basketball Player of the Year

Mustangs Big Man Named Gatorade Player of the Year

WEST FARGO (KVRR) – Sheyenne High School’s Tommy Ahneman has been named the 2023-24 Gatorade North Dakota Boys Basketball Player of the Year. This is the first time the award has been given to boys player at Sheyenne.

The 6’10” junior big man averaged 20.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.9 assists this past season. He led the Sheyenne Mustangs to a 21-6 record and a Class AA state title.

Ahneman was named the 2024 NDHSAA Class AA State Tournament MVP after going for 28 points, 17 rebounds and two blocks in the championship game.

Ahneman now heads into his senior season as the school’s career rebounding leader with 540.
