Fargo Police Chief and City Attorney Tasked With Looking Into Noisy Vehicles

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — First they looked into speeding and street racing, now Fargo City Commission is going after vehicles that are illegally altered and creating unwelcome noise in the city.

Commissioner Arlette Preston wants the police chief and city attorney to research what would be required to enforce the laws against such vehicles.

Preston says she has heard complaints from a number of people over the years about the noise coming from certain vehicles and motorcycles.

She says more complaints have been coming in this spring.

Preston also shared a personal example.

“I was walking down Broadway the other night and there were, I think 5 or 6 vehicles that had been altered, and I tell ya it was like those fireworks that um just boom and they don’t have any lights with them that’s what it sounded like,” said Preston.

“They were bouncing off the buildings and every single one of those cars did it every block. It was obnoxious.”

Police Chief Dave Zibolski says there are things they can bring forward for the commission to consider.

Those recommendations are expected to be presented in one month.
