Fargo Pop Expo celebrates wide variety of pop culture

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — The Fargo Pop EXPO held Saturday and Sunday at the river valley, fairgrounds, with celebration of all things, pop culture from comics to motorcycle

The event featured vendors selling vintage toys, comics, and video games, as well as car and motorcycle displays.

Fans could get autographs and pictures with The A-Team and Battlestar Galactica actor Dirk Benedict and former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tommy Kramer.

Kramer said that he loves to get out to these events and interact with the fans.

I haven’t played football for a long time, but when you get up here and the people are like “I’ve watched you here. We watched you there,” and so and it’s just so nice. You know, the people who are so nice, and that’s all you have to do is just be nice.

ValleyCon Chairman Tony Tilton said that the group has been happy to put on a growing number of pop culture events in the area in recent years.

We knew there was an audience for and we draw from the whole region, which is the thing, and we know there’s a lot more out there that people could enjoy. We keep these events very casual and very fun for just a general audience. You know you don’t have to be a hardcore fan to come to one of these events

Tilton added that the demand for events like these has always been there, and they’re excited to get to bring more of them to the area.

We got a couple of surprises. We started the True Crime Expo this year earlier too. That comes in late January and actually will be the first week of February (next year) so we’re avoiding the Super Bowl with that next year fortunately. But that’s a brand new event that we started, but yeah, we’re looking at keeping it to like three, four events at most for the year.

Tilton said that they have more exciting events still coming up this year.

Coming up is Valley Con, which is the third week of October and it’s gonna be very large. It’s our 49th Annual Valley Con.
