Fire Department prepares to open new station in far south Fargo
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo Fire Department is preparing to open its newest station, its 8th, in far south Fargo.
The station is located near the 64th Avenue South overpass.
The current southernmost fire station is located on 25th Street near 32nd Avenue South, about 30 blocks north of the new station.
Once completed it will also house water rescue equipment due to its proximity to the 52nd Avenue South Landing and Boat Access on the Red River.
Fire Chief Steve Dirksen says the station will help improve response times dramatically in the area.
“We should see a nice reduction in any of the response times. We’ve seen an increase in calls in this area of town, South of 52nd in particular, and we’re hopeful with this station coming on board, as the building continues that we will reduce response times for the people in the community.”
The station is still under construction and is expected to be open and operational in August.
