F-M RedHawks Take First Two Games Vs. Defending American Association Champs

REDHAWKS ROLL TO A 5-4 WIN TUESDAY FOLLOWING MONDAY'S 5-0 WIN.

The RedHawks opened the 2024 American Association season 1-2 against the Lincoln Saltdogs this past weekend. To start this week, Fargo-Moorhead had a tough battle with the 2023 American Association Champions, the Kansas City Monarchs. After a shutout 5-0 win on Monday, the ‘Hawks continued to roll Tuesday in their annual “school day.”

After allowing two runs in the opening frame, the RedHawks got one run back in the bottom of the second with a ground-rule double courtesy of Nick Novak.

Trailing 3-1 in the 4th inning, the RedHawks offense exploded for 4 runs to take a 5-3 lead.

Kona Quiggle scored two on a double to left-center field. Juan Fernandez followed that up with an infield single to third to bring home another run. Ismael Alcantara drove in the final run of the inning on a base hit to center field.

Orlando Rodriguez got the start on the mound for Fargo-Moorhead and went four innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits. He also struck out seven batters.

Former NDSU Bison Peter Brookshaw scored two runs and went 2-for-4 from the dish. He is batting .364 through the first five games of the season.

The RedHawks won 5-4 to improve to 3-2 on the season and have won two games in a row.

Next: Fargo-Moorhead will host the Monarchs once more this week with a 7:02 P.M. first pitch on Wednesday, May 15.

The RedHawks will then begin a 10-game road trip starting Friday, May 17 vs. the Sioux Falls Canaries.
