Full-Scale Disaster Drill Conducted at Hector International Airport in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A full-scale disaster drill was held at Hector International Airport this morning in Fargo.

And despite the rain, first responders were able to get some much needed hands on experience.

The incident revolved around a plane crash after it hit some birds causing major problems at Hector.

Throughout the exercise, patients were treated for different injuries while firefighting crews executed their gameplans on how to tackle the situation.

“So far I feel like it has gone pretty well. Like we’ve got rain, obviously we rather have it be nice outside but accidents and incidents happen in the rain as well. It’s good all-around training for everybody” said exercise director Chad Noyes.

The FAA requires the exercise be done every three years to meet requirements and provide first responders an opportunity to exercise their response to an airport incident.
