Attorney General Ellison joins antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KVRR/FOX) — Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has joined 30 other attorneys general in the fight against live entertainment costs.

Attorney General Ellison said, “One of the major drivers of inflation in this country is corporate greed and illegal behavior and Live Nation and Ticketmaster are prime examples.”

The Justice Department announces it has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation, the parent company of Ticketmaster.

In a news conference with Attorney General Merrick Garland, the DOJ accused the world’s largest concert promoter and ticketing company of illegally maintaining a monopoly which results in driving up prices.

The lawsuit follows a DOJ probe following complaints by fans, including how tickets were rolled out in 2022 for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour.

Live Nation and Ticketmaster have disputed accusations they are a monopoly, citing increasing competition for online ticketing sales.
