Fargo man arrested after high-speed chase in Clay County

The vehicle reached speeds of 120 mph

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – A Fargo man is in the Clay County Jail for Felony Fleeing, Felony Possession of Stolen Vehicle, and outstanding warrants in North Dakota.

Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting says on Friday, a Glyndon Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop for reckless driving.  The driver fled eastbound on Highway 10 from Glyndon.

A deputy located the vehicle in the 11000 block of Highway 9, traveling south at 95 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone.

The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver continued southbound at speeds of 120 miles per hour.

The vehicle continued westbound on I-94. A Minnesota State Trooper was in the area and deployed stop sticks on I-94 near mile marker 10.

The driver, 36-year-old Shaun Montanari, pulled over and was taken into custody. Once the vehicle was stopped, deputies learned the vehicle was stolen.

A 39-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was not charged.
