Bonanzaville brings history and fun on Independence Day
WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Bonanzaville got people out on Independence Day with an old fashioned wild west themed celebration.
The event featured food trucks, bounce houses and train rides, but it also gave people an opportunity to check out some of the historical exhibits.
Bonanzaville Director Beth Jansen says that during the 4th of July celebrations, they are able to offer a fun and educational experience for families in the area.
“On our 4th of July we provide the community with a budget friendly, family friendly event that they can just come out and enjoy and have a blast.”
Jansen added that while people may come for the carnival atmosphere, they can also check out the great exhibits they have on offer.
“Because we have all of these historic buildings and we have five city streets, they’re getting a taste of our history with something fun to do as well. So we’re introducing people that might not always or generally come to Bonanzaville on any given day.”
And sometimes the people who come for the fun leave knowing they have to come back to see all of the exhibits again.
“Somebody will walk in for a special event just because they maybe have small children and they see that there’s a lot of fun things to do, and they walk out going oh my gosh we have to come back. There’s so many other things to see. I didn’t realize this was so big, I didn’t realize you were here, I didn’t realize there was so much to do here.”
One volunteer said, sharing these exhibits means a lot to the people that love the history of our region.
“Bonanzaville is special to us. I’m old so I recognize just about everything out here. We’ve been coming out here for 25 years, so it’s great.”
Pfeifer added that getting to share this history with a younger generation is rewarding.
“It’s really fun, and it brings back a lot of good memories.”
