Train with hazardous materials derails, catches fire near Carrington
CARRINGTON, N.D. (KVRR) – A Canadian Pacific train carrying hazardous material derailed early Friday near Carrington, North Dakota.
Foster County Emergency Manager Andrew Kirking says the derailment involved more than 20 rail cars.
The type of hazardous materials involved was not immediately identified. Some of the cars caught fire during the incident.
Kirking says the crew is safe and there were no injuries reported.
Kirking says the derailment happened between 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.
The cause of the derailment and fire was be investigated.
