North Dakota Soybean Processors Plant Held Their Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

CASSELTON, N.D. (KVRR) — “Congratulations NDSP”

With their ribbon cutting ceremony commenced, the soybean facility officially opened bringing Casselton their very own soybean processing plant.

“This plant is going to be for many, many, many generations of people. And we intend to be the partner within the community that the community is proud of, the state is proud of and we know that we will work very effectively together.”

The four hundred million dollar plant brings 75 jobs to Casselton and will build the current state economy’s impact from the $2.7 billion last year.

“The facility is state of the art. It has the most effective and most efficient equipment in it which enables us to keep our costs low to produce.”

NDSP aims to focus on value-added production by producing high-quality agricultural products for the food and fuel markets. With their partnership of Minnesota Soy Processors, they will be able to handle the cost-effectiveness and implementation into the market.

“So with the combined knowledge of both companies is very valuable and not only operational issues but commercial as well.”

Not only will the plant bring an economic value to the state, but it will also give stability to soybean growers. According to Jim Thompson with plants like these in the future, it will give opportunities for everyone.

“When there’s a reliable market for your product you’re more apt to grow it. And as long as the market price can be maintained and it’s profitable for the grower then it’s a good shot for us.”

Even though this new plant isn’t fully operational, there are discussions underway about an expansion in the near future.
