Fargo Post 2 wins Central Plains Regional; punches ticket to Legion World Series

WEST FARGO (KVRR) – The Fargo Post 2 legion baseball team has faced challenge after challenge this summer, and it culminated in winning the 2024 Central Plains Regional tournament at Young Field in West Fargo. They won in the championship game over Swisher, Iowa, claiming the title game with a come from behind 9-3 win.

“We talked about this all offseason, this group of kids, we have the talent, we came in and knew we could accomplish it. Hats off to them battling back through the loser’s bracket not giving up, playing each game as its own. Seeing where we fit in.” said Head Coach Luke Rustad.

Post 2 lost in the North Dakota state tournament earlier in August, dropped down to the loser’s bracket in the regional and battle all the way through to punch their ticket to the Legion World Series in Shelby, North Carolina. The comeback kids are back in the national tournament for the first time since 2019.

Catcher Sam Ovsak was named the Central Plains Regional tournament MVP.
