FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KVRR/KFGO/FOX) — A Fergus Falls woman was arrested and faces second-degree assault and other charges after investigators say she tried to run over her boyfriend Saturday afternoon while they were on the way to couples therapy.

Authorities say the two reportedly had been fighting all day and the victim asked 30-year-old Veronica Gast to take him back to their residence. Instead, she stopped in the traffic lane and demanded he get out. The victim said when he walked in front of the car, she accelerated and hit him, sending him over the hood and into the windshield, which shattered.

Gast told officers she pulled over when the argument escalated. The victim got out of the vehicle and thought he would walk home. She then admitted that she hit the victim with her car but she didn’t stop because she was in shock. Gast also denied making eye contact with the victim before hitting him.
