Over a hundred volunteers take part in the 4th annual Barnesville Day of Caring

Day of Caring

BARNESVILLE, Minn. (KVRR) — Over 100 Barnesville High School students pitched in to help members of their community for the 4th Annual Barnesville Day of Caring.

The event, hosted by the Barnesville Area Community Fund, invites volunteers to help with various outdoor projects at the homes of senior community members.

Projects consist of cleaning gutters, raking leaves, washing windows, small repairs, and others.

This year, 80 area seniors will receive support from volunteers.

Many of the volunteers we spoke to said they are excited to be a part of this.

“For me, it’s fun. You get to see students coming out, coming together, and putting the work in and helping folks that need a little extra help,” said Shawn Paschke, Volunteer.

“It kind of seems like a noble thing to do, I guess. It’s fun. You get out with your friends, and you get to roam around town and do some good while you’re at it,” said Gabe Yeske, Student Volunteer.

Since 1989, the Barnesville Area Community Fund has given back over $2 Million back to the community in the form of grants, scholarships, and loans.
