Grand Forks Police Chief Mark Nelson will retire Friday

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — After 36 years with the department, Grand Forks Police Chief Mark Nelson will retire on Friday.
Nelson joined the Grand Forks Police Department in September 1988 and became the chief in 2014.
Mayor Brandon Bochenski says, “Chief has set a high standard for our local law enforcement and has left the department in a great place for his successor.”
A nationwide search will be conducted to fill his position.
Mayor Bochenski has named Lt. Dwight Love Interim Chief of Police.
