Felony assault charge against Roseau daycare provider dismissed

ROSEAU, Minn. (KVRR) — A felony assault charge against a Roseau daycare provider who admitted to spanking a child out of frustration has been dismissed.

Arrial Lovelace, 34, was convicted of Malicious Punishment.

In May, authorities were contacted by a social worker after a parent reported their child was assaulted.

The mother of the victim showed photos of an adult sized handprint on the buttock of the three-year-old child and bruising.

Lovelace received no jail time and is placed on unsupervised probation for one year.

She is also ordered to go through an Anger Management Assessment.
