Taking a Stand: National Day of Solidarity
The recent shootings, acts of violence and controversy surrounding Planned Parenthood have people taking a stand here in Fargo.
Women joined together as one group to act against violence during a National Day of Solidarity.
Stand Up for Women activists held signs showing their support for ending violence after shootings in San Bernardino, California and at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado.
Stand Up for Women supporters says they are not only standing up against attacks against Planned Parenthood and abortion providers.
The organization is showing their support for the black, refugee and transgender communities as well.
Supporters say they are also upset that the U.S. Senate just passed a bill to defund Planned Parenthood.
They say the organization provides women with important health services.
“We want our legislators to know that we want Planned Parenthood to stay. We want them to stop trying to defund Planned Parenthood, and we just need affordable health care,” says Stand Up For Women N.D. SupporterĀ Jen Hoy.
Planned Parenthood supporters gathered at solidarity events nationwide including in Colorado and Washington D.C.
