DG Fuels Selects Moorhead For New $5 Billion Facility to Produce Low-Carbon Aviation Fuel

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — DG Fuels has announced it plans to build a new $5 billion facility to produce low-carbon aviation fuel in Moorhead.
The plant would create 650 jobs and serve the Great Lakes region.
The facility will convert corn stover and timber waste into high-value low-carbon aviation fuel.
In a press release, the company says the production baseline process differs from other systems by having little or no environmental emissions either to the atmosphere or waters.
DG Fuels CEO Michael Darcy says it also provides significant economic value to the agricultural communities and farmers that the company partners with.
The plant is expected to be constructed over a four-year period.
Production is expected to begin in 2030.
Darcy says the facility is expected to deliver over $50 billion of economic impact across the state over the next 30 years.
DG Fuels corporate office is located in Washington, D.C. and specializes in the production of biosynthetic fuels, including synthetic low emissions aviation and diesel fuel.
“Adding value to our region’s agricultural economy is a top priority and fits perfectly with Moorhead’s development strategy,” said Mayor Shelly Carlson.
“We’re eager and stand ready for the challenge of having conversations with this company and the state of Minnesota to try to attract a large, um, a large industry within our community that would certainly have transformational impact for our region,” said Derrick LaPoint with Downtown Moorhead Incorporated.
