Need a Sweet New Ride? Ray’s Auto Repair Car Giveaway
Ray’s Certified Auto Repair in Moorhead is giving back to its community by giving away a ride.
One local business is going to help drive one lucky person’s future.
The Season of Giving is here and this Moorhead auto shop is paying it forward by giving a car away to someone in need.
“Trust me, I think it’s an excellent way to giving back to the community,” says customer, Petr Otoo.
Ray Bernard and Mike Nelson of Ray’s Certified Auto Repair cooked up the idea of re-purposing a car and then just giving it away.
“Ray and I discussed it for a while. He mentioned that he wanted to do it some time ago. When the prime time came along with a car became available to us,” says Head Service Adviser, Mike Nelson.
Ray bought a 98 Saturn SL2 from an owner who could no longer afford the repairs.
It needed a new engine and an oil leak and power windows needed repairing.
And even with all those problems, it only brought possibilities.
“It was so frustrating starting out with that we decided to do something good with it,” says Ray.
This car is worth about $2,500 which is the cost it took to fix it.
In a few weeks this car will be going home to a new owner.
“A special person that helps out people around them with their time and talent and could use a car to help them out,” says Ray.
Ray is looking for a deserving person who may be down on their luck and need a sort of “jump” to their life.
If you know someone who could use this, he wants you to nominate them.
Entries can be emailed or mailed to Ray but you better start your engines.
Nominations end on December 4th.
“There are so many good people around this area. You know it’s just the way we are up here, I think. If you have, you give,” says Ray.
Ray’s Certified Auto Repair will select a winner on December 19th.
This is their first car giveaway but they say it won’t be their last.
