Snow Isn’t the Only Thing Falling

The FM area is experiencing its first major snow fall of the season, but it seems the snow’s not the only thing falling.

Essentia’s Emergency Room Staff has been extra busy responding to…you guessed it…people falling.

Essentia says the first snow fall tends to be its busiest time for falls.

If you’re uncertain whether a fall merits a trip to the ER, doctors say it’s better to be safe than sorry.

“I think what happens is people sort of forget how to walk when the first bad weather hits and then through the winter we sort of acclimate the way that we ambulate if you will. I know that I do that,” says Essentia Health Emergency Physician, Brian Sauter.

Dr. Sauter says hitting your head during a fall should be taken seriously.

If you experience vomiting, blurry vision, or worsening severe pain visit the ER.

He suggests using ice for any minor pains.
