FM RedHawks owner, Fargo businessman Bruce Thom dies at 83

FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks owner and local businessman Bruce Thom has died at 83.

Thom died January 2 in his home, according to his obituary.

Thom led the RedHawks organization since the team was founded in 1996. In 2004, he bought the team from Otter Tail Corporation. His son, Brad, is president and CEO of the club.

He was a primary investor and a Vice President of Otter Tail Corporation, the parent company of Otter Tail Power and several other businesses and companies in the region.

Thom was also involved in the leadership of KFGO and other radio stations in Fargo in the 1990s.

Thom resigned from Otter Tail Corporation when he bought the RedHawks in 2004.
