Faith United Hosts Tjugondag Knut Celebration
The event, known as Saint Knut's Day in more phonetically forgiving fashion, marks exactly 20 days since Christmas.

FARGO, N.D. – Indecisive about when the best time is to take down your Christmas tree? Just ask the Swedes!
Faith United Methodist Church on 19th Avenue North hosted an event today – a traditional Swedish festival day marking exactly 20 days after Christmas.
It is colloquially known as Saint Knut’s Day, but if you want to be more authentic, the full name is Tjugondag Knut.
As you might imagine – this celebration has deep roots in Swedish culture.
“With the end of the 20th day, you throw out the Christmas tree. But before you throw out the Christmas tree, you have to plunder the Christmas tree,” said Chris Carlson, explaining the celebratory aspect with which the children dismantle the tree.
“In Swedish, it literally means; on the 20th day, you dance the Christmas tree out the door.”
The event was co-sponsored by Nordic Culture Clubs, who would like to remind you that the annual Scandinavian festival is coming up in June.
