America 250: Bonanzaville’s Big Bash

WEST FARGO, N.D. — We’re just a couple of weeks away from America’s 250th birthday on the Fourth of July, and West Fargo’s Bonanzaville museum is getting in on the celebration.

Bonanzaville’s been well-known for years as an Independence Day destination, but this year, the pressure is on to make it extra-special.

You’re invited to stroll its 12 acres and 36 historic structures to learn about what this part of the country was like during pioneer times.

You can also meet Teddy Roosevelt, watch a Declaration of Independence roll off an 1889 printing press, or join a watermelon-eating contest.

Then, starting in August, there will also be an exhibit coming that highlights some of the lesser-known stories of the American Revolution that have strong ties to this part of the country.

Bonanzaville’s Riley Thelen joined the Morning Show to talk about why it’s so rewarding to bring historic stories of long-ago North Dakotans to life for their descendants right here in the Red River Valley.
