MSHSL Girl’s Hockey: Moorhead and Roseau Advance to Section Title Game

MOORHEAD AND ROSEAU PREP FOR THEIR THIRD STRAIGHT BATTLE IN THE SECTION 8AA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) –Winning in the playoffs is not easy. Moorhead defeated Alexandria 4-0 in the regular season and Roseau defeated Bemidji 6-2 and 5-4 in their two battles. Saturday’s Section 8AA Semifinals did not play out the same way.

The Spuds and Cardinals entered the third period tied at 1. The third period is when Moorhead’s experience showed. The Spuds scored three in the final frame to advance to their fourth straight Section Championship game, winning 4-1.

Roseau held a lead into the third period over Bemidji, but Bemedji tied it to force overtime. The Rams prevailed in the end winning in overtime thanks to a game-winning goal from Jasmine Hovda.

The Spuds and Rams now prepare for their third straight section final battle. The Spuds won in 2023, Roseau won in 2024. The third straight battle will take place Wednesday, February 12 at a neutral site.
