Officer Dotas Returns To Work 19 Months After Being Ambushed in South Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO) — Fargo Police officer Andrew Dotas is back on the force.

Dotas and two other officers were ambushed by a gunman on 25th Street South in July 2023.

Officer Tyler Hawes and bystander Karlee Koswick were also wounded.

Hawes returned to the force last week.

Officer Jake Wallin was killed in the ambush.

Dotas credits firefighters, who he says stayed even though they were not wearing bullet proof vests, with saving his life.

He says relying on faith has been a cornerstone of the healing process and thanks the community for its support.
