Fargo School District Sells Operations Center to City for Flood Plan

The Fargo School District is selling its operations center to the city, so the building can be torn down as part of the 2nd Street flood wall.

The city will pay the school district nearly $2 million for the building, which is located north of the Howard Johnson Hotel.

The district houses a warehouse, central kitchen, and workshops in the facility.

The Cass County Joint Water Resource District will then spend more than $6 million to buy land in south Fargo for the school to build a new operations center.

“Fargo Public Schools, we have great partnerships with the city of Fargo and the Fargo Park District, and we want to be good partners in protecting the city and having opportunities for the city to meet their needs with their master plan,” says Fargo Public Schools Business Manager Broc Leitz

The new operations center is expected to be ready to use by the middle of 2017.
