Cory Steiner Feels Honored To Receive The Position of Fargo Public Schools Superintendent

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — After the school board used a new points-based voting method, Steiner was unanimously chosen by all nine board members.

“I am overwhelmed especially from the many messages I’ve got of gratitude and thanks. And I’m honored to be considered for such an important position and such a wonderful community and a wonderful school district. It’s bittersweet because I absolutely love where I’m at right now, but this is just an amazing opportunity for myself and my family,” said Cory Steiner.

Steiner was one of 19 people who applied for the superintendent job. Previously, Steiner had worked as assistant principal then principal at West Fargo High School. He currently works as the Superintendent of the Northern Cass school district.

“He is clearly incredibly passionate about public education and about our youth experiences and learning. So if you look at his resume if you look at the things that he’s been able to do in that district he’s innovative, he’s creative and he’s in a place where he’s really going to move us forward and ensuring that we provide the absolute best experiences for all our students,” said Katie Christensen Mineer, President of Fargo Board of Education.

While Steiner currently still works at Northern Cass, he wants to make sure he is able to spend time learning about Fargo Public Schools as much as he can.

“Let’s find ways to make sure I can understand the district even better then when I come in on the first day. So it’s just it’s going to be about me making a really strong effort to prioritize my time and make sure I’m getting to have as many conversations with as many people as possible,” said Steiner.

Steiner will succeed Dr. Rupak Gandhi, who will step down on June 30.

Fargo School Board Members will decide on further contract details at their March 11th meeting.
