“Future of Farming” Comes to Wheatland

The event featured several high-profile people from the agriculture world, including the Chief Technology Officer of John Deere.

WHEATLAND, N.D. – Farmers in the Red River Valley Region got a glimpse of what industry experts are calling the next great leaps forward for agriculture.

The “Future of Farming” event was held at the Grand Farm Innovation Campus in Wheatland.

In attendance were many industry leaders, including the Chief Technology Officer of John Deere.

Speakers touted advancements such as a sprayer that detects weeds and automatically eliminates them in precise fashion.

They say that these automations are welcomed by farmers and present opportunities for massive growth.

“As you think about autonomy and what it means, the reality is that it’s really a force multiplier in agriculture,” explained Adam Gilbertson, Senior Vice President of Field Technology and Innovation for RDO.

“Many in the industry are very excited about the opportunity to really bring value to their time, the opportunity to maybe get out of the cab.”

Also showcased at the event was an entirely autonomous tractor.

Organizers say that the weed sprayer will be utilized this summer, while the tractor may be a year or two away from full implementation.
