First Graders Take Lesson from Pilgrims

Fargo first graders took a lesson from the first Thanksgiving, and shared in a holiday feast.

Each of the three first grade classes at Longfellow Elementary brought a different type of food.

Their contributions were combined to form a full Thanksgiving meal.

The kids mirrored the pilgrims and Native Americans that joined together for the first Thanksgiving way back in 1621.

Coming together is a lesson these kids take seriously.

“We thought it would be fun to have a fun feast here at Longfellow, and each of the kids got to contribute something to the feast,” says first grade teacher Bobbi Jo Cody.

First grader Tristan Marinov adds, “I think it’s important because if someone’s starving to death, they can share food so they can stay alive. “

Kids also copied the clothing of early pilgrims, wearing paper hats and belt buckles to the feast.
