Trains Overtake Fargo Library

A new railroad is in town, and itas making a home in Fargo’s public library.

Three years went into this portable model railway and town completed by the Red River Modules Model Railroad Club. Club members set up the railway between four to six times a year. The detailed track and scenery takes about an hour to set up and 45 minutes to tear down. Each member runs his or her own train. Many members were involved in model railroads as kids and have carried on the hobby into adulthood.

“For me it’s kind of the history, the historic part of it. I model Northern Pacific and I really enjoy modeling, and learning about that railroad and the importance of that railroad to this area,” says Alan Dahlman, President of Red River Modules Model Railroad Club.

Fargo Public Library is hosting the trains for national model railroad month. The trains will also run Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm where club members will be available for questions. The library invites people of all ages to check out the locomotion.
