LIVE: A Step Toward Understanding
FARGO — It’s one of the least-understood and most devastating diseases in our region.
And next month, the Team Hope Walk for Huntington’s Disease is coming back to the metro after a years-long hiatus.
Organizers describe the disease as a combination of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS.
They say there are about fifty families in the region who have a loved one diagnosed with the disease.
It’s both incurable and fatal, and causes a breakdown of the nerve cells in the brain.
You can develop it at any age, but it’s most commonly diagnosed in your forties.
The Huntington Society of the Northern Plains president Amy Watkin joined the Morning Show for a live interview about what it’s like living with Huntington’s, why some doctors don’t even know what they’re seeing when their patient presents with it, and how you can get involved in the effort to raise funds and awareness.
