National Assistive Technology Day Celebrated in Fargo
North Dakota Assistive held events at each of its locations statewide.
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The building may look unassuming from the outside, but tucked away at 3240 15th Street South, Suite B is an absolute treasure trove of assistive technology that allows people with different needs to live more comfortable and productive lifestyles.
“Our mission is to help get everyone AT, or assistive technology, as they need it, to be more independent with daily activities – working, leisure, school, all those kind of things,” explained AT Assistant Randon Lovering.
For Assistive Technology Awareness Day, North Dakota Assistive held events at all their locations across the state.
The Fargo branch hosted a demonstration from 4 to 6 P.M.
There, they showed off all types of assistive tech – from larger phones and remotes to shower fittings for people with mobility issues and even upgrades to home security systems.
Staff says that exposing people to tech they didn’t know was available to help with their issues is the most rewarding part of the job.
“People are just so thankful,” said Lovering.
“I can’t even put into words, but it’s just amazing to see the look on their faces when things work out for them and they can do something they haven’t been able to do for some time.”
