Park Rapids Pilot Not Injured After Emergency Landing of Ultra-lite Airplane in Hubbard County

HUBBARD CO., Minn. (KVRR) — Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office responds to a report of a small plane crashing in a field on the north side of Potato Lake in Arago Township on Sunday evening.

The pilot of the 1-seat ultra-lite airplane, 65-year-old Dennis Sleen of Park Rapids, told deputies he took off from Park Rapids airport and started having engine trouble.

He made an emergency landing when he realized he wouldn’t make it back to the airport.

Sleen landed in a field and was not injured.
The incident was reported to the FAA who declined to investigate the crash.
