Warroad Man Detained After Pursuit in Grand Forks

Officers say Cleven was told to stop multiple times, but refused to comply.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – A Warroad man is in custody after allegedly leading police officers on a chase through downtown Grand Forks.

At approximately 8:30 in the evening on May 15, a Grand Forks police officer observed a vehicle driving westbound on Demers Ave. in violation of traffic laws.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, a 2009 Dodge Ram, but the driver did not comply.

As the vehicle approached the intersection of Demers Ave. and S. 20th St., officers were able to use their patrol vehicles and block the car from going any further.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 58-year-old Kelly Cleven of Warroad, MN.

Cleven was arrested and charged with fleeing in a motor vehicle and preventing arrest.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Traffic was diverted along Demers Ave. for approximately 10 minutes while the pursuit was occurring.
