Grand Forks Fire Chief recommended for position of Fargo Fire Chief

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) –A selection committee is recommending Grand Forks Fire Chief Gary Lorenz for Fargo fire chief.

The city launched a national search for a new chief in anticipation of Chief Steven Dirksen’s retirement on May 16.

Three candidates were designated as finalists: Lorenz, Tim Binfet, and Craig Nelson.

Binfet and Nelson are both division chiefs with the Fargo Fire Department.

After in-person interviews, the committee recommended Lorenz for the position.

City Administrator Michael Redlinger will present him as the recommended candidate to the city commission on Monday.
