Boelter Makes First Court Appearance
The alleged shooter of multiple Minnesota lawmakers could possibly face the death penalty if convicted.
ST. PAUL, MN (KVRR) – The alleged gunman in the Minnesota lawmaker shootings appeared in federal court Friday, June 27.
Vance Boelter is accused of killing Minnesota’s former Speaker of the House and her spouse and seriously injuring another state lawmaker and his wife.
Boelter’s attorney requested a delay in proceedings, saying her client’s sleep deprivation due to jail conditions have made it difficult to communicate with him.
Prosecutors did not object, and the preliminary hearing and detention hearing was pushed back to July 3rd.
Boelter was arrested last Monday following the largest manhunt in Minnesota state history.
He faces state and federal charges including murder, firearms offenses and stalking.
If found guilty, he could face the death penalty.
