West Fargo Wins “The Pete” with 7-0 Result over Tri-City (MN)

FARGO (KVRR) –The 2025 Jim Pettersen Invitational brought top-tier teams from Minnesota and North Dakota to the region this weekend. The West Fargo Patriots returned to the top on Sunday as winners of “The Pete”.

In Sunday’s title game, West Fargo jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The offense continued to stay hot in the third. Grayden Peterson drove in two runs on a single to right field to extend the Patriots lead to 6.

Evan Krogen on the mound pitched a gem and the defense behind him stepped up as well. Jett Collins brought in the final out of the fourth inning with a spectacular grab to bring back up the Pats bats.

In the bottom of the frame, Hudson Dinger drove in the 7th run of the ballgame with a double to left and that would be the final score in this one.

West Fargo wins “The Pete” 7-0 over Tri-City.

Dinger shared after the game what this tournament win can do for the group heading into the rest of the season.

“It definitely gives us a lot of momentum and energy as well,” said Dinger. “I know we’re about to go on another big road trip here after [July 4]. Coming off a win like this where we had back-to-back games over seven runs, I mean, it feels nice. Energy, attitude, morale…everything’s at an all-time high.”

West Fargo is now 20-7 on the season and will return to the field Tuesday to battle the Moorhead Brewers. Following that game, the Patriots will play a doubleheader with Fargo Post 2 on Wednesday.

*Note*

Fargo Post 2 (finished “The Pete” 4-0) was ineligible to participate in Sunday’s Championship game to a legion baseball rule prohibiting teams from playing three games in one day. Weather forced Post 2’s Saturday game to be played Sunday. Post 2 defeated Maple Plain 8-1 on Sunday and then Tri-City 5-4 in the “semifinals”, but Tri-City advanced to the Title Game due to the rule.
