Fargo Public Library brings books to the doors of seniors and people with disabilities

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — For the past 18 years, the Fargo Public Library has operated a service that offers a personalized library experience for senior citizens and people with disabilities.

Outreach services serves twenty assisted living homes across the Fargo area.

It’s operated by two librarians and other volunteers who provide personalized book selections.

From popular authors such as James Patterson and Danielle Steel, many readers have taken as many as fifteen books at a time.

“Many of these people don’t drive any longer, they can’t get out into our library and access our books and our other library items. So I know just speaking with the residents at these facilities that they it brings them a lot of joy to have these books come out. And this is kind of the one way they can get reading material,” said Kirstie Carlson, Outreach Associate.

The library says this is a free service for anyone interested.
