UND-Sponsored Drone Flight to Showcase Ability to Help Rural Areas

The one-hour unmanned flight will show off the progress of Project Rural Reach.

WILLISTON to WATFORD CITY, N.D. (KVRR) – Exciting news in the field of aviation coming from the University of North Dakota. They will be conducting a long-range drone flight that aims to demonstrate how the technology could connect rural areas of the state.

The flight is scheduled for 9 A.M. on Thursday, July 24.

An iSight drone operated on the Vantis network will take off from Williston and fly to Watford City.

This is a part of Project Rural Reach – showing how unmanned craft can quickly transport things like medical supplies to more isolated areas.

The flight is expected to take about an hour to travel in the air.
