MOORHEAD (KVRR/KFGO) – Firefighters from Moorhead, Dilworth, and Fargo responded to a fire at 1724 1st Avenue N. in Moorhead early Thursday.

Moorhead Fire Department Battalion Chief Adam Puetz says the call came in around 2 a.m. Thursday.

“Upon arrival we saw a small fire on the east side of the building. It looked to be a service door at one time” Puetz says. “Crews were able to extinguish the fire outside quickly and were able to make their way into the interior. There was minimal fire damage to the inside. We still don’t know how it started. We don’t know the damage estimate yet.”

The building used to be home to Helgeson Meat Market, but Puetz says it has been vacant for some time.

No one was hurt. The cause is under investigation.

Moorhead Police, the Salvation Army, and Sanford Ambulance assisted at the scene.
