FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A Fargo man is in custody at the Cass County Jail after authorities say a YouTuber let them know that the man was in possession of child sex materials.

The YouTuber, Jidon Adams, allegedly set up a decoy account posing as an underage female. This account made contact with Jerry Shope, and Adams said the resulting conversations were sexual in nature.

Officers spoke with Shope. He admitted to having images of underage girls on his phone, but said that was because he was being scammed. He claimed that women were sending him the material until he sent them gift cards in return, and that he had only saved them onto his phone so he could show his case worker.

Shope consented to a search of his cell phone. Officers witnessed several images of naked women and a video involving an underage girl. The phone was seized and logged as evidence. Shope was arrested and taken to Cass County Jail. He’s been charged with Possession of Certain Materials Prohibited.

Police say Adams gave them a hard drive with the sexually charged messages between Shope and their decoy.
