FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Property owners are preparing their rental properties for the cold winter months.

Greater Red River Apartment Association, along with Prairie Pest Control, presented a talk about pest prevention and what to do.

Two of the most common pests that appear in apartment buildings are cockroaches and bed bugs.

Prairie Pest recommends property owners let tenants know that they are there to help handle the situation and not to handle it by themselves.

“The last couple of winters have been very mild. And so that’s led to some increase in pest issues. Things like mice, grasshoppers, spiders. Most people are probably seeing a little bit more of that around their own homes. And so it’s just a good timely topic,” said Mindy Kemp, President of Greater Red River Apartment Association and Regional Manager for MetroPlains Property Management.

The association provides six learning sessions a year for property owners.
