FARGO — Students at Osgood Elementary were treated with celebrity story tellers on Friday.

Local athletes and personalities, including KVRR’s very own Emily Welker, Ryan Bowlin, Max Mueller, and Allison Vorhees visited various classes and read them stories.

Allison read the students a section of the book “Charlotte’s Web”. Emily and Ryan read “The Class Trip from the Black Lagoon,” while Max read and talked to the students about basic weather phenomena.

The event was part of the School’s read-a-thon going on through the month of October as a way to get students excited for reading and possibly helping them to develop life long reading habits.

“We, as a whole school, are trying to reach $30,000 for our fundraiser and I think we’re right around the $10,000 mark so far. So the kids have really worked hard to get those minutes in and to ask people to support them,” said fourth grade teacher Mrs. Peterson.

Along with KVRR personalities, other celebrity readers included Aldevron scientists, coaches with Sanford Sports Academy, NDSU Women’s Basketball team members, and North Dakota State Representative Gregory Stemen.
