GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) – The Grand Forks Police Department says an officer was forced to discharge their weapon to resolve a hostage situation that developed at an apartment complex on the evening of December 5.
Officials say dispatch received a call from a woman who informed them she was holding a man hostage inside a unit in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue North.
Officers entered the unit and identified who was the hostage and who was the suspect. A deputy then shot at the suspect multiple times. She was given aid and then transported to Altru for treatment.
Neither the hostage nor any of the responding officers were injured.
Per standard procedure, the deputy has been placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
