FARGO — The Fargo Salvation Army has announced that one or more generous people have dropped a total of four gold coins in various Red Kettles around the metro.

All four gold coins are from the United States with denominations of $20, $10, and $5.

The coins dates range from 1894 to 1924.

With the current gold exchange rate of $4,357.50 per ounce, the Salvation Army says that the $20 gold coin is worth around $4,357.50.

The $10 gold coin is valued at around $2,178.75.

The $5 and $1 gold coins are valued at around $1,375 and $433.75, respectively.

The coins have a combined value of around $8,300.

“The coins are a beautiful gift, empowering The Salvation Army to meet the ever-growing
needs of our community”, said Major Abe Tamayo, Corps Officer of the Fargo location.

Gold coins have also been found in red kettles around the metro in previous years.

The Salvation Army’s bell ringing season ends on Christmas Eve at 2 p.m.
