City of Fargo Public Works finishes clean up efforts, with two machines down

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A day after a storm hit, Fargo Public Works is working to make sure roads are cleared and salted.

Snow plows and motograters make their way up and down streets early this morning.

Sunday night’s storm caused one machine to break down, and another had to be towed away.

City of Fargo Public Works director says his hope is for drivers to be cautious and that the coming winter months don’t overexert the machinery or his team.

“Last night’s events stressed everything out a little bit. Today, we’re out cleaning up where we have some snow banks still sitting. And so we’ll be out there. But we just always hope for an average winter, that’s something we can handle. When we start to see sixty, seventy inches of snowfall in a wintertime or upwards, that’s when we really start stressing our staff out and our equipment out. And our staff is our most important thing that we really need to watch out for,” said Ben Dow, City of Fargo Public Works Director.

Crews will focus on completing snow removal on the north/south streets in Downtown Fargo beginning this evening into Tuesday morning.

Beginning at 2 a.m., vehicles located in no-parking areas will be impounded.
